A Message from the Friends of Wings President
Each day, children in our community and surrounding areas are diagnosed with life-limiting illnesses. For each of these children, there is a family in distress desperate for answers, medical assistance and emotional support.
The Wings team strives to alleviate some of the heartache by providing valuable care and support to all members of the family. It is our hope that, by doing so, families can focus on their loved one and each other.
Our caregivers assist each family member in honoring their child and help the family move forward positively. We understand that our families will require assistance for years following the unthinkable death of their child – support that is given to siblings at the Stepping Stones camp and to grieving mothers at the Weavings retreat.
Our children in hospice benefit from traditional medical care in addition to Expressive, Art and Music Therapy all in the loving, familiar environment of their home. Our therapists have seen the value each of these programs has in easing the pain, fear and loneliness of this terrible journey.
Because of the enormous benefit Art Therapy has brought to our patients and families, the Friends of Wings has committed all our efforts in 2008 to raise $1 Million to endow an Art Therapy program. This will ensure that children well into the future will have the opportunity to express and share many thoughts and feelings that might never be spoken. You can, and we hope you will, be a part of this campaign by donating your time, your talent or the much-needed funds.
Please take the time to explore our website and learn more about Wings. We are here to provide care to you or loved ones. We are also here to let you know how you can be more involved in the efforts of Friends of Wings to meet our goals to help the children in our wide-reaching community.
Thank you for your support.
